UniRemote deliberately does not request the INTERNET permission. It cannot connect to any remote server even in principle.
No photo, media, or file access
The app never accesses your device gallery, personal photos, or external document storage.
No location or contacts tracking
Zero access to GPS, Wi-Fi location, or phone contacts. Your domestic setup remains entirely private.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does UniRemote control my appliances without Wi-Fi?+

UniRemote uses your phone's built-in Infrared (IR) transmitter diode (the same technology found in standard hardware remotes). It pulses optical signals at specific frequencies directly to your TV, AC, or soundbar. No Wi-Fi, internet connection, or smart hub required.

Does my phone need an IR blaster?+

Yes. To transmit optical commands to non-smart appliances, your smartphone must have a built-in infrared emitter (common on devices from Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco, Huawei, Honor, TCL, and select others). If your phone lacks an IR diode, you will be notified upon launching the app.

Does UniRemote store my voice recordings?+

No. Voice commands are processed ephemerally by Android's native speech-to-text service only while you hold the voice assistant button. UniRemote never records audio to storage and cannot transmit audio over the internet because it has zero network permission.

What appliances are supported?+

UniRemote contains a database of over 1,000+ brand IR code sets covering Smart and CRT TVs, Air Conditioners (split-type and window), Soundbars, AV Amplifiers, Projectors, and Set-Top Boxes from global brands like Samsung, LG, Sony, Carrier, Panasonic, Daikin, and many more.

How do I delete my paired devices?+

You can swipe to remove any device card from the home screen, or go to Settings → 'Reset Application Data' to instantly wipe all paired remotes, bookmarks, and preferences in a single click.
